Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Run virtual desktops on a central server and provide your users ease of access, flexibility, mobility and security.

The Need for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Run and managed through your data center, VDI involves a virtual desktop image that is delivered over a network to an endpoint device, which allows the user to interact with the operating system and its applications as if they were running locally. The server deploys them on request, while the user can access it using a traditional PC, thin client device or a mobile device from any location.

In VDI, desktop computing takes place on your server, rather than at the endpoint device, so the hardware requirements for the endpoint are lower. This potentially makes the investment in an endpoint device lower, and it may be easier to support a diverse range of remote and mobile devices. Because all data lives in the data center, any loss of an endpoint device limits the exposure of the data that is not stored in the device.

Benefits of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Easy of access

The most distinguishing feature of VDI is remote access. You lose access to traditional desktops as soon as you are away from the system. With VDI, you can access your desktop from anywhere, at any time.

Greater security

Conventionally, all your data and applications are all stored on your local hardware like laptops or PCs. In case the computer is stolen or damaged, all the data is lost. Moreover, you need to invest in a new device.
Because all the data lives in the data center, and not on the endpoint, VDI provides significant security benefits. Moreover, you do not need to worry about data loss. Even if you lose the device, you can access your desktop from any other device.

Device portability

As in the case of VDI, the desktop is not bound to the hardware; it can be accessed from multiple devices. You can use your mobile, laptop or tablet to view your desktop.

Easy desktop provisioning

With VDI you don’t have to configure each system manually. The virtual desktops can be provisioned almost instantaneously as the settings have to be mirrored from a desktop image.

Data center facilities

In VDI, the desktops are hosted on servers situated in high-performance data centers. You get all the facilities and features associated with the data center namely advanced security, high-end infrastructure and disaster recovery plan among others.

Cost reduction

Because little actual computing takes place at the endpoint, you can extend the life span of otherwise obsolete PCs by repurposing them as VDI endpoints. When the time comes to purchase new devices, you can buy less powerful and less expensive computing devices.

Why Syndrome for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure?

]

Understand your users’ needs

At Syndrome, our first priority is to understand the needs of your organization as well as your users. We run through questions like – Do your users need to be able to customize their desktops, or are they task workers who can work from a generic desktop? What are your users’ performance requirements?

We help you provision your setup differently for users who use graphics-intensive applications versus those who just need access to the internet.

]

Prepare your network

Our experts prepare your network in anticipation of demand spikes. Since your VDI performance is so closely linked to network performance, we study the peak usage times and anticipate demand spikes to ensure sufficient network capacity.

]

Avoid underprovisioning

We perform capacity planning in advance using performance monitoring tools to understand the resources each virtual desktop consumes and understand your overall resource consumption needs.

]

Perform a pilot test

In order to check if the resources have been provisioned correctly, we run test VDI deployments. During the tests, we check for random demand spikes and resource consumption.

Our experience

At Syndrome, we offer a diverse portfolio of intuitive VDI solutions serving organizations of all sizes and kinds. Our engineers ensure that your users have comprehensive and secure access to the apps they need to remain productive.
